Jethro came in with his Mum and Dad recently for a fun family portrait.  I just love the ones of Jethro playing on the blue chair.  I can almost see this in fast motion as he moves from one position to another.  I am sure his Mum would agree that this little boy likes to keep active.  Jethro, at times, was a little more wary of the camera as you can see from the second composite but with children photography the key is to having a whole range of toys on hand to get their attention.  As a result is didn’t take us long to get him smiling again.  His toothy grin is fantastic in the lower images.  With such happy smiles all round it wasn’t difficult to get a fabulous family portrait with Mum and Dad.  If only all our families who come into our portrait studio were to be so happy!!  Thanks Jethro for being such a great subject to photograph and we can’t wait to give Mum and Dad your final images for the wall.

Five year old Amelia and 2 year old James came in recently for a series of family portraits and sibling photographs.  Amelia had the most adorable smile teamed up with her bright patterned top she just radiated fun and excitement that comes with being a child.  Little James wasn’t to be outdone by his big sister though, and while a little cautious of the camera , he still managed to show us his personality as well.  Since buying a little red couch it has become a favourite amongst all the kids.  I think our portrait studio might be investing in a few different coloured ones to ensure we have one to suit everyone!!  I just love Amelia’s high side pony.  It adds a real element of cheekiness to her photographs.  When you come to our Balcatta studio it is always important to think of what you are all wearing so that the final image doesn’t involve too many different patters.  Children, like Amelia, can look fabulous in bright colours with lots of different shapes, however, we suggest adults stick with simpler or solid colours.

We welcome back the Swan family for their fourth family portrait.  We started on this portrait journey with them when Rochelle joined up for one of our Blissful Life Collections which includes pregnancy photos, newborn photography, and then family and children photos.  It is such a wonderful well to celebrate the start or continuation of a family.  Their gorgeous two boys, Joshua and Daniel, are now so used to being in front of the camera you would think they did this for a living.  It’s always great to have siblings in and we have a lot of fun choosing chairs to use or backgrounds that will really capture their personalities.  The three series you see below will be framed composites to complement the other composites from previous sessions.  While I love the bright colours of the first series there is something special about black and white that just draws you into the photograph.  ”People photography’ is all about capturing the true essence of someone and I think we have done this perfectly with the cheeky grins on both boys faces.  We look forward to continuing the journey with the Swan family in years to come.

Two year old Vasyl and 3 year old Victoria came in for a family portrait with Mum recently.   Vasyl was full of expressions and I think given all the arm movements that goes with it he would make an excellent politician one day.  He wasn’t overly keen on the big hugs from sister Victoria though!!  Mum jumped in on a few photos as well which is always great.  We encourage parents to join in on the action when they came in for kids photos as what is a family portrait without Mum & Dad.  We know its not always easy to make time to get everyone in the family together but you will appreciate it all in the end.  To have the wonderful family portraits that you will treasure a life time makes up for any schedule adjustments that are needed.  At Bliss we have tried to make it as easy as possible with working parents by having evening and weekend appointments available.  Keep in mind to our portrait studio is very child friendly and we have lots of great props to add that little extra something to the photos…our retro red couch is a hot favourite at the moment and looks wonderful.

This is Zed’s second trip to us, he first came in January 2009.  He loves his trains, particularly crashing them!  Check out his video below.  You can see from his very cheeky smile that doing children photography can result in having to let kids get up to a bit of mischief occasionally.  The results though are usually worth it!  These photographs make you want to jump in with him and play trains as well.  Bliss Studio has a whole bunch of toys for children to play with while having their family portrait.  No matter their taste or age we have something for everyone. If that doesn’t work we always have other staff members willing to make fools of themselves to ensure we get THE photo.  With smiles like that we will have you back anytime Zed.  If your child has a favourite toy please feel free to bring it in to your children portrait session.  Anything that will make them relax, smile and have fun is always appreciated by the children’s photographer’s. Baby photos are always cute when they have a special toy or outfit to have a photograph with as well.  We are happy for you to bring in a suitcase full of ideas!!
